Position

This position contributes to an ongiong SSHRC-funded research project concerning the depiction of wages in french and English language newspaper editorials and op eds. One research assistant will report to Ellen Russell at Wilfred Laurier University. 

Accountabilities

  • colelct relevant newspaper editorials and op eds in a data base
  • develop and maintain coding book
  • maintain research related records and databases
  • enter data according to established guidelines using Nvivo software
  • perform qualitative and quantitative data analysis
  • attend research team meetings
  • co-present results at academic conferences
  • participate in writing academic papers

Qualifications

  • PhD or post-doctorate level education in progress in relevant discipline
  • Doctorate level academic background in critical discourse analysis or similar methodologies
  • experience using Nvivo 10 in large-scale research project
  • experience performing qualitative and quantitative discourse analysis
  • excellent research and writing skills
  • proven ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • must speak/write/read either fluent French or English
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset

Length of Employment

Approximately 10 hours per week between August 2015 and July 2016, with the possibiilty of extension
